Our client, a global automation firm that specializes in automated machinery, is seeking a highly qualified Sr. Lead Controls Engineer to join their team.

The Sr. Lead Controls Engineer will work closely with the technical lead and Project Manager to perform software programming and electrical debugging activities on automated machinery. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for preparing machines in-house and providing support during installations at customer sites, which may require travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare machines for debugging and FAT phase
  • Check electrical wiring and verify I/Os are properly wired
  • Debug electrical circuits to ensure they perform according to design
  • Test all circuits and approve machine for debugging
  • Provide programming support during customer's FAT
  • Load program into PLC and perform basic programming tasks on standard components
  • Provide programming and electrical support for the setup and testing of all ancillary equipment
  • Support installation technicians during commissioning of new machines
  • Travel to customer's site to provide electrical debugging support during new machine installations
  • Prepare Ladder logic design patches for projects in installation/commissioning phase
  • Mark-up/update schematics as required during debugging and commissioning
  • Debug and test machines to fulfill intended machine function specified by project
  • Provide support to electrical wiring teams on issues related to wiring schematics and special ancillary equipment
  • Develop off-line program for machines or machine functions
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations Manager to minimize time and cost impact of design modifications during debugging

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in electrical engineering in automation/industrial machinery
  • Bachelor's degree or similar technical education in electrical engineering
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical
  • Familiarity with current safety standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
