Project Engineer

Our client, a well known food manufacturer is looking to add a Project Engineer ot their team. 

Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, the Project Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and follow-up of major investment projects and must develop, analyze and evaluate various investment requests. The Project Engineer designs processing systems in order to improve operations or bring added value to the organisation. The scope of projects may reach several million dollars. 

More specifically, the incumbent of this position:

• Provides technical and financial follow-up for projects entrusted and coordinates implementation, writes up technical specifications, prepares plans and cost estimates, and allocates contracts for the organisations major projects;
• Designs, studies and develops investment requests entrusted by the supervisor. The expertise provided takes into account technical aspects, operation challenges, human resources and the financial impact of projects;
• Coordinates the work of the multidisciplinary team associated with the realization of major projects. The team may comprise both internal and external resources;
• Acts as advisor for other stakeholders in the Engineering department or plant managers;
• Will be responsible for CAPEX projects in different locations (Woodstock but other locations could be added depending on work loadings and project approvals).

Requirements

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, industrial, food, electrical engineering or in automated production;
• You are part of an Engineering Association recognise in Canada;
• You cumulate a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in project development and realization;
• Your experience in the food industry is a strong asset;
• Proven track record of implementing multi-disciplinary Capital projects in a multi stakeholder environment;
• Experience in automation and procedure control would be an asset;
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications, and AutoCAD;
• Knowledge of continuous improvement practices an asset;
• Negotiating and communication skills and a keen sense of analysis;
• Strong communication skills in English;
• Strong communication skills in French, an asset.
